Science or management students often come here. Ask about labs and real job help before you join.
Who this usually fits
Students from science or management who want an applications / software-oriented bachelor without the IOE engineering track. A practical door into IT — but outcomes depend heavily on which college you join.
How you get in
Criteria depend on the university and college (TU-affiliated and others). Some seats stress +2 marks and interviews more than a single national-style entrance. Always confirm the current year’s admission rules for the college you’re eyeing.
What the years often look like
Programming, databases, web, and applied IT subjects. Teaching quality, project culture, and peer seriousness can differ a lot between two campuses with the same degree name on paper.
Watch out for
- Brochure placement numbers with no names or proof.
- Colleges that skip labs and projects for exam drilling only.
- Assuming BCA is “easier CSIT” — different path, still needs deliberate skill-building.
Ask this before you pick
- Can I visit the lab and talk to a current student without a salesperson present?
- What projects do second- and third-year students actually ship?
- Where did last year’s graduates go — jobs, further study, or abroad prep?
Still comparing?
Open the other after-+2 doors students in Nepal weigh beside BCA.
CE
Computer Engineering
IOE and KU both offer Computer Engineering. Decide which entrance to sit — and keep a Plan B.
CSIT
BScCSIT
Not only TU — RJU also has BScCSIT. Good software path if you add skills beside the degree.
BIT
BIT
Another IT path with its own campus style. Match it to your goal — not only a cousin’s opinion.
BTech
BTech
Often sold as “AI / future” tech. Read the real syllabus and labs — not only the poster.
FA
Foreign university (Nepal)
UK/Australia/other names, taught in Nepal. Compare total fees and recognition — not only the logo.
