Not only TU — RJU also has BScCSIT. Good software path if you add skills beside the degree.

Who this usually fits

Science-stream students who want a CS/IT bachelor. Tribhuvan University is the most talked-about CSIT path, but Rajarshi Janak University (RJU) and other Nepali universities also run BScCSIT — so “CSIT” is not one entrance and one syllabus forever.

How you get in

Each university runs its own BScCSIT admission. TU: entrance, then campus preference and allotment. RJU: eligibility usually +2 Science (or equivalent) with the minimum marks/GPA for that year, plus RJU’s entrance — confirm on rju.edu.np for the intake you’re applying to. Popular colleges fill fast; research labs, seniors, fees, and travel before you lock a preference list.

What the years often look like

Core CS and IT subjects, programming, and projects — teaching quality depends on campus and university, not the acronym alone. Many students pair the degree with side skills (AI tools, web, freelancing) because the job market cares about proof.

Watch out for

  • Assuming every “CSIT” college follows the exact same TU syllabus and culture (TU vs RJU differ).
  • Picking a campus only because a cousin studied there.
  • Waiting four years to build a portfolio.

Ask this before you pick

  • Is this seat TU, RJU, or another university — and what entrance do I need?
  • What do current students say about labs, attendance culture, and project freedom?
  • What skills will I add in year one (not year four)?
